Leonardo Brandão is the Project Director responsible for the SMP refurbishment. He is a senior executive with extensive experience in project management, asset management, maintenance, and operations across the mining, metallurgical, and chemical industries, having held leadership roles in major multinational companies. Prior to his current role, Leonardo served as Senior Superintendent of Maintenance Engineering and Planning at Marampa Mines Limited and as Maintenance & Reliability Manager at Alcoa’s Alumar smelter. He also held senior positions at Hatch and CMOC Brazil, where he was General Operations Manager. Earlier in his career, Leonardo spent several years at Vale, leading major investment projects and managing multidisciplinary teams across multiple sites. He began his career at Alcoa, where he progressed through a series of technical and managerial roles, including leading a major smelter modernization project. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Federal University of Uberlândia, as well as Master’s degrees in Project Management and Business Management from FGV University.
